If it is sugar it becomes a puckish color
If it is protein it turns violet.

If it is starch it will have a dark purple color to it.
Egg whites has no sugar or starch, but has protein.
Milk has sugar, protein, but no starch.
Oatmeal has 50% sugar, no protein and had starch.
Breakfast Biochem Analysis:
People always say "breakfast is the most important meal of the day". Many breakfast foods contain carbohydrates, in addition breakfast can have sugars, starch and protein. In class we did an experiment on which breakfast foods contain: sugar, starch or protein. For example, milk had sugar and protein, but no starch. However, eggwhite was positive in protein, but negative in sugar and starch, which surprised me. We experimented of milk, oatmeal, applesauce, banana and egg white, but non of them were exactly the same. Sugar, starch and protein are all organic molecules which are all molecules made by/used by biotic organisms that contain carbon.
Two potential errors that could have accord is mixing up the test tubes, because we were constantly changing and cleaning them. We could have also put the wrong number of drops of either benedict, iodine or buret. My hypothesis was not supported because I though all of the traditional breakfast foods had protein, knowing that protein is good for you. The data is conclusive because many groups got the same result, and my group did not have any errors (that we know of).
